Global Product Manager - Metalworking

Description

  • Develop/maintain Global product line series to meet objectives of bus. plan. Recommend extension to product portfolio as communicated and agreed on with the Regional PM’s, leads and has authority to maximize the Global Formula Reduction Program as warranted. Coordinate and prioritize the design of the Core Range offering, additions, and subtractions within the Core Range, management of product line series and stimulates the development of advantaged products in all regions in cooperation with the RPM’s. Organize through Regional Product Managers the regional core ranges to build a global core range. Participate in identification and selection of R projects and prosecutes new R&D products in line with business objectives per the New Technology Roll-Out process. Provide customers with Quaker vision of the future regarding new products and applications.
  • Globally lead process of product selection for customers through core range strategy implemented by regional Product Managers utilizing a predetermined commonization approach to Part/Product/Application selection. Has final authority for approval of any Global Part/Product/Application recommendation that would be suggested by the RPM which falls outside of the Global and/or Regional Core Range.
  • Globally Own the GOLD application Projects, Formulation comparison to Standard, and final authority for approval and roll-out. Coordinate with BSM and R&D on integration of all GOLD projects.
  • In the process from Development, Validation, Planning and Launch, the GPM owns the Validation and Planning process. This means selecting with sales management validation sites, qualify and obtain field test data and case studies. In the Planning Process segment selection and product positioning are defined.
  • Hold presentations for customer on technical/product related subjects in co-operation with the Regional PM and Regional SM with key emphasis on Key Corporate Decision Makers for Global Approvals.  Organize meetings with customers in co-operation with marketing and sales/key account management, in order to discuss product specifications and product/technological developments. Create and provide training for Metalworking associates on Part/Product/Application Best Practices in coordination with RPM. Work closely with Marketing Managers, Sales/Key Account Managers, Process Engineers and Laboratory personnel to meet everchanging Application and Regional industry requirements. Working with this team designing and executing a knowledge transfer process via internal and customer driven survey is essential for being successful in this position.
  • Lead the process to agree and set lab priorities based on the business objectives.  Where necessary uses the GIL’s for decision making.
  • Organize and regularly review the “D” Lab Requests/Resources/deliverables for the commercial group. Support the Global/Regional “D” head to achieve efficiency/priority for the business.
  • Coordinate with other functions (local labs, manufacturing, purchasing) to determine and establish technical feasibility and product cost as input for the final offer. Set targets to recommended minimum CM Margin % based on best global practices, for Global and Regional core range products while understanding and compensating for the retail pricing relative to Global key Accounts.
  • Recommend and prioritize global OEM lists and contracts.  Work with global Marketing Manager to coordinate visits, reports and recommendations. Manages OEM relationships in Europe.
  • Facilitate coordination and communication between applicable product managers.
  • Identify and mentor high potentials for GPM succession planning

Qualifications

Possesses a bachelor (or equivalent) level degree. Experienced in a technical management position and has process knowledge in the appropriate industry. Must be a technical expert; able to understand/solve global technical process related problems at customers and have excellent people management and relationship building skills.
Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.  In addition must possess excellent communication abilities, and be fluent in English (verbal and writing) and a second regional language
