Focused on Reducing Total Costs

We see management services as a comprehensive way to help you achieve the maximum value by using our products in the most effective way.

Quaker has chosen to be far more than “just” a chemical company.  Based on the needs of our customers we have developed a business model based on taking full responsibility for the effective use of our products.  A primary way of doing this is Quaker’s Management Services program (QMSsm).

This program improves product performance, lowers your total operating costs and addresses environmental concerns.  At Quaker, we see management services as a comprehensive way to help you achieve the maximum value by using chemical products in the most effective way.  We do this by placing Quaker Associates in your manufacturing facilities full time so that they become an integral part of your operations team.

Continuous improvement of the metalworking, steel and related processes

QMS programs are focused on continuous improvement of your metalworking, steel and related processes.  We use our extensive industry knowledge and process expertise obtained from over 90 years in business to understand your specific issues, solve particular problems, and implement demonstrated solutions. We have a systematic approach to controlling and improving manufacturing processes.  As a result, your company will experience improvements in productivity, quality, and profitability—immediately and into the future. Quaker applies this approach to both our metalworking and steel businesses virtually everywhere that we do business.  Over 70 QMS programs are in operation in the US, Europe, South America and Asia with over 300 Quaker Associates actively involved.

QMS goes beyond invoicing and delivering product to optimize your processes and continuously reduce chemical lifecycle costs, risk, and environmental impact.

Programs tailored to meet your needs

There are four different levels of integration of QMS, from chemical procurement to environmental tracking and reporting, to process monitoring and control, to finally leveraging improvements in cost and product quality—with guaranteed results.

We can extensively customize a QMS program. We’ll bring our most expert staff from around the company—and the world—to plan implementations. Then we’ll create an on-site staff with the knowledge and skills to respond immediately to emergent issues.

QMS staff are highly qualified. More than 90% are degreed and more than 75% have technical degrees. Team members are not only trained across functions, they are trained for your specific needs and processes. They are supported through instant access to Quaker’s technical database.

We also have the technological data processing capability to help you get a deep understanding of your total cost of ownership of process fluids and associated products and services. This is the backbone of QMS, and one of the first and foremost non-financial benefits you will enjoy.

The four different levels of integration of QMS include:

Chemical Procurement

Quaker assumes responsibility for inventory of process chemicals, placing orders, ensuring delivery, inspection upon delivery, no production discontinuity due to product shortage and controlling inventory—resulting in labor and cost savings.

Environmental Tracking

This leverages our expertise and proprietary software to ensure environmental compliance, product stewardship, and health and safety concerns—revealing and controlling hidden costs. Quaker also participates in waste reduction programs through product consumption reduction and the implementation of specific technical methods. The effect of this is direct cost savings for you.

Process Monitoring

Quaker’s on-site experts together with your plant staff work to optimize product-processes, capture data, and analyze results — helping to reduce costs and improve performance.

Leveraging Improvements

At this level, QMS becomes a true partnership, with services such as benchmarking of best practices and associated costs per unit, as well as R&D for process improvement—and guaranteeing results.

A look at specific service offerings

Quaker brings to bear a number of specific types of services to create and integrate your QMS program. Here are profiles of seven such services that demonstrate our expertise and capability.

Inventory Control

minimizes the impact of chemical use on production by purchasing the right amount and assuring timely delivery. There are many direct and indirect benefits from reduced record keeping and easy interface with suppliers, to Quaker ownership of inventory, from reduced purchase orders and invoices, to Quaker oversight for full compliance with government and industry guidelines.  A state-of-the-art inventory control system assures proper inventory levels, avoids out-of-stock situations, and can immediately locate specific chemicals. Additionally, we can report chemical usage by specific burden or cost center, and provide JIT inventory control.

Process Optimization

focused on the proper application, use, and management of industrial process fluids. This includes product selection and specification, performance monitoring and reporting, troubleshooting, trial evaluation, and safe-use training. Available as a stand-alone service or in conjunction with a more comprehensive management services program. Process optimization has been proven to save from 10 to 20% of annual chemical costs.

Chemical Control

is the proper use of chemicals, requiring ongoing monitoring and control—assured through our on-site staff and our ChemTRAQ® tool. Benefits include real-time resolution of problems and improvements in processes.

Recycling and Waste Minimization

can be added to a QMS program to provide access to on-site application of centrifuge and recycling systems, or contract mobile recyclers. Benefits include direct cost savings as high as 20-30% of original chemical costs, liability avoidance, minimal environmental impact, and effective and convenient recycling.

Cost Savings Programs and Project Management

are based on our systems approach, integrating our in-house expertise, supplemented by your technical staff and that of other suppliers. The projects focus on all of your process considerations, including chemicals, materials, and tooling, to establish performance metrics and optimize the interaction between the individual input parameters. We have helped many customers realize dramatically lower production costs.

ChemTRAQ®

is a proprietary database that provides on-site health, safety, and environmental support related to the chemicals that we manage in a QMS program, including MSDS management, hazardous chemical evaluation, CAS number reporting, environmental reporting, and training and safe use instruction. In addition, our proprietary computer software integrates with purchasing and project management software. ChemTRAQ® delivers direct savings in labor and consultant costs, helps to avoid injuries at work, and reduces environmental risk.

QBX

is Quaker’s customer-dedicated web site. It is safe, with strictly limited access and your own User ID and password. QBX gives you a convenient and fast way to download and print data 24 X 7. The benefits include faster communication and exchange of information, and a permanent record of all controlled parameters, projects, and reports. This tool allows multiple users from Quaker, different locations in your company, or third parties to share data and information such as test results, compliance documents, or reports in a secure environment.  Access is controlled so that individuals can only view that information they are authorized to see, and limits their ability to add or modify information.   The structure can be customized to your specific needs and can be modified quickly and easily.
